Learn to Row

National Learn to Row Day

Each Spring, the Newburgh Rowing Club sponsors a Learn-to-Row Event, held at our boathouse on the bank of the majestic Hudson River.

The 11th-annual National Learn to Row Day will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Rowing Clubs and Health Clubs across the United States. The Newburgh Rowing Club is proud to participate in this Nationwide Event.

In previous years, activities began at 9AM at the Newburgh Waterfront and extended through mid-afternoon. Event activities included an introduction to the sport of Rowing as well as a chance to experience rowing on the water. Details regarding the 2011 Event Timeline will be posted here once they become available.

USRowing, the non-profit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the U.S., and Concept2, the oar and ergometer manufacturer based in Morrisville, Vt., ask Rowing Clubs and Health Clubs across the country to open their doors and give people a taste of rowing on the water and on the ergometer.

More than 100 clubs throughout the United States participate each year.

Competitive and recreational rowers range in age from 12 to over 90, so it is never too early or too late to take up the sport.
